Something new...

After many days of not going to college (due to fever) today i went to college despite the rain and reached there to find that i am the only soul in the college. In the afternoon sanjay came in and we started discussing the game we were doing.

After sometime we decided that we will do something about the dissertation and since my diserration was nil i decided a new topic. I thought of doing 3D HUD for new generation games, i presented it to harish sir and he wasnt quite convinced and so was i. The topic didnt have a bang to it so then i had to change it again.

After sometime i met Zayed in the office and he was there for the admission of his friend and i told him that i was blank about dissertation and he told the topic, Realtime Physics in next gen games and well for a designer thats a tough topic but then i told this to Harish sir and he felt the same thing.

Finally after some time with Harish sir, it was decided that i will be doing the topic- "Influence of gameplay in racing games". Well to put things in perspective this was about how stories and different game modes affected each player. Some players just want a racing experience and look for a challenge so the go for games such as Need For Speed Shift 2 and Forza Motorsports that is the best in delivering real racing graphics and physics in games for the best racing gaming experience.

As it can be seen these games emphasize more on the racing experience than a story line or anything. Then there are racing games like burnout paradise that offers player pure racing fun. No upgrades no cash just pure driving. Level up by winning races and get new cars by taking down opponent drivers.

Then there is the story driven games like NFS Most Wanted, NFS Carbon, and NFS Undercover. All these are story driven racing games that provide something more than a racing experience, this gives the player a role to play in the game and make choices that affects the game. These games have cash, upgrades and new cars to buy and the gameplay is extensive.

So this is what i will be doing about my intership and extensive study about the way how gameplay affects racing games and how it is different for differnt age groups.

Well about the game we are doing the story is somewhat set and Sanjay showed me the map we were supposed to create and i was like OMG! that big. Well in the end we will be cutting it down to suit the game. Well we will know soon how large the map is going to be after the map is cut short.
