Intern game...

Well after discussion within ourselves we have decided to implement two more things in the intern game we are doing. One is the profile screen and the other is the level selection screen. Obviously our game will be propelled  to new heights if we are able to successfully implement the following things...

Profile screen...
I made this look like a officer recruitment screen and i decided that on leveling up the players will increase their rank among the police. The players will start of with level 30 that means cadet and then progress ahead, havent decided all the names yet since i need the approval of the dev team. It includes many things from the previous screens and i think i haven't overdone anything. The option to change the name is also included in-case they want to change the name later.

The profile menu, i think i will have to remove some elements from it...

Level Screen...

After the players have typed their name they will be shown this screen. Before our game used to be like, play one level then next, there was no way to return to the previous level and try that out with the implementation of the level screen we will be better making the gameplay. I did this one to be more techy but also simple, everything is lines and the colors are only blue and black, each level has 3 scores or stars, one star will earn 'good', two will earn 'excellent' and three will earn 'outstanding'. Only if the player has earned 6 points in all, he can move on the next round.

The level screen, its blue for now maybe for the next screen i will put green...
As promised yesterday, i told i will be telling things about the use and need of a game engine so here it is...

Game Bitz,
A game engine is like a program, like windows, it houses all the nesscarry features required to make a game. It takes a lot of time and man power to create a game engine so its not like for every game there is a game engine, they reuse the game engine so that it doesnt take a lot of time to create a game.

IdTech...
I think the the early days the most common engine that came out to be famous would be the id Tech engine from Id Tech for games such as Doom, Quake etc. We had a shot at that engine too we had something called GTKRadiant,( GTK stands for GIMP tool kit, GIMP stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program, and GNU stands for GNU is Not UNIX, dont ask what UNIX is :P)

GIMP is available for download here: http://www.gimp.org/
Its similar to many ways, and helps creation of shaders too...

This is how the interface of GIMP looks...

GTK radiant is available for download here:http://radiant.robotrenegade.com/
GTK will most probably need a game like quake 3 too so that assets can be read from them.

(Assets are things in the game like geometry, lights, sounds etc)

I think for today this will be enought tomorrow i will put another engine...
